Roundtable Discussion; Structuring Your Novel

Several months ago (I’m behind on updating my blog!), I moderated a roundtable discussion with members of the Columbia University community on the topic Structuring Your Novel.

Writers gathered on Zoom to share techniques from initial concept to completed first draft. We discussed the key turning points of a story and how to make sure they happen in the right place. Topics included the three-act structure and creating a character’s inner and outer journey in a novel’s story arc.

It was a fun conversation that brought together aspiring fiction writers and published novelists as we shared experiences, tips and techniques in a collaborative, inclusive forum.

You can watch the discussion on YouTube here.
